If you hide the recycling bin icon from your desktop, then it also won’t appear in the side bar of windows explorer. Turns out that this makes it really quite hard to get to the recycling bin!

Fortunately there’s a quick fix to make it display in the side bar: Right click on the side bar and select Show all folders. Now you can see it! Note that also displays your home folder, but I find this to be a good thing
